Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers state has charged Corps Members to be focused, dogged and determined in uplifting the lives of the people of the state.

Fubara made the remark Wednesday in a message to the closing ceremony of 2024 Batch A Stream 1 orientation course for corps members deployed to the state.

In the message read by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, the Governor charged the corps members to see themselves as elite youths who must be disciplined and patriotic to make positive impact on their host communities.

“You should be beacons of light in your host communities and remember always that you owe them responsibilities of serving them well as role models.

“I reassure you that this administration will continue placing your security and welfare as a top priority,” he said.

The State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mr. George Mfongang informed the governor that the corps members had been adequately equipped with character, capacity and competence to excel.

“They are expected to contribute meaningfully in their places of primary assignment across the 23 Local Government Areas of the State.

“I am confident that the corps members will promote and entrench peace, equity, social justice, love and mutual respect amongst the citizens as nation builders,”.

He thanked the governor for paying the state allowances of all corps members and appealed to them to reciprocate the gesture by being exceptional and exemplary.

A total of 1,676 corps members made up of 858 males and 812 females successfully completed the orientation exercise in the state.
