The Senior Special Assistant to Ebonyi State Governor on Urban Development, Maxwell Umahi has advised citizens of the state not to build or trade under high voltage electricity cables.
Umahi gave the advice in an interview in Abakaliki on Thursday, noting that such acts endanger people’s lives.
The governor’s aide said that people should consider the deadly consequences of building or trading under high voltage electricity cables and apply necessary precautionary measures to stay alive.
“We have seen people electrocuted while staying or conducting activities under high voltage cables when such falls from the poles.
“The victims die through severe burns or get maimed in lesser cases.
He advised people who are already living and trading under such cables to relocate before the state government takes necessary actions.
“The Nwifuru administration is a responsive one that is desirous to secure the lives and properties of its citizens.
“The government is desirous to enforce necessary building regulations to ensure the safety of its citizens.”
Umahi urged the citizens to continue supporting the Nwifuru’s administration to continue delivering democratic dividends to them.
“The people’s charter of needs is on course and will definitely meet the yearnings of the people”, he concluded.
