The declaration for Presidency by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is ruffling feathers and generating fears in some circles within the ruling All People’s Congress.
One of the circles is the Ahmed Bola Tinubu circle where the decision is seen as an affront. Piqued by the Vice President’s audacity, Tinubu told reporters shortly after the declaration that “I have not gotten a son who can challenge me”.
Members of the circle believe that by declaring for Presidency not minding that his leader, the Jagaban is strongly contesting, Osinbajo may have declared a politcial war in the APC.
Meanwhile shortly after Osinbajo’s declaration, Tinubu summoned a closed-door meeting of APC Governors which is not unconnected with the threat posed by Osinbajo’s ambition.
The meeting, took place at the Kebbi state Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja, had in attendance no fewer than 14 APC governors.
No doubt, Osinbajo’s presidential ambition which had remained in the realm of speculation will certainly change political calculations in the ruling party. Serious political war is brewing in APC in the South West right now!
