In a practical determination to make Nigeria work again, the candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Gregory Obi yesterday departed the shores of Nigeria to Egypt where he will understudy how the education, finance and electricity generation sectors of the country is structured to make it work effectively.
In a tweet he sent to Nigerians on his way to the country, Mr Obi said that his interest in his quest to occupy Nigeria’s seat of power is not necessarily to become president but anchored on the determination and desire to make Nigeria work like other advanced countries in the world. He tweeted:
”I just departed for Egypt on a 3-day visit as part of my detailed study of comparable countries to Nigeria. In Egypt, I am expected to understudy, among others, the Egyptian Power Sector, Education, Planning and Finance Sectors. -PO”.
No presidential candidate of any party since the history of Nigeria has demonstrated in practical terms and zeal this show of need to restore the hope and dignity of the country and Nigerians like Obi. He has toured over 30 countries studying the economies of various countries in a bid to redirect the trajectory of Nigeria.
It is apt to note that Egypt with less population than Nigeria generates over 30,000MW of electricity, with Cairo alone having over 10,000MW while the generation in Nigeria is less than 4,000MW.
