The emergence of former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, as People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Presidential flag bearer has, no doubt, put a lot of pressure on the calculations of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The ruling party must be working hard on who becomes it’s candidate for the crucial 2023 general election.
Atiku’s presence in the Presidential race has huge implications and is likely to affect the APC behaviour in many fronts including religion, regional, strategies, popularity and of course economic war chest to execute the election proper.
The theory of “opposite and equal reaction” is very popular in science. The theory posits that there must be an equal force at both ends of an experiment to maintain balance in a competitive environment.
Perhaps, it is necessary to relate this theory of opposite and equal reactions method to a political contest like 2023 Presidential election.
The PDP has a formidable candidate in Atiku Abubakar. He is unarguably a political force that has bulldozed his way to pick the Presidential Ticket. And his preparedness and determination to fight through is not in doubt.
The APC equally needs a strong candidate to match Abubakar if it must win the election.
Among the 28 aspirants jostling for the ticket, it does appear that only Ahmed Bola Tinubu is the only one that has the capacity to face Abubakar.
Tinubu has some invaluable antecedents which may make him to have an edge over Abubakar.
These include his investment in human development an unequalled mastery of the game of politics.
The coming Presidential election is the most crucial election in the history of Nigeria being election year where two high profile political generals will be standing against each other in a bloodless electoral war.
Fortunately, Tinubu has a better political history and successful fights to his sleeves. He is Aristotle of Nigeria’s democracy and has used his hard earned money to fight many forces to a stand still to institutionalize civil rule in the country. Tinubu is a master strategist, a bridge builder, a stabilizer and the architect of modern Lagos, a state that is fast developing into a mega city in Africa.
My advice to APC, as a sympathizer and strong supporter, is: give the Presidential Ticket To Ahmed Bola Tinubu.
