The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria has elected a new Prelate and Moderator to it’s General Assembly.

He is Most Rev. Dr. Ekpeyong Akpanika.

Akpanika emerged winner at the election conducted during the 25th General Assembly meeting of the Church held at the Presbyterian Church Of Nigeria, Hope Waddell Parish, Calabar.

In the election held after months of prayers and fasting, Akpanika polled 451 votes to beat his closest candidate, Most Rev. Daniel Etim who got 355 votes.

GA watchers described the outcome as answered prayers following a lot of apprehension that preceded the election.

The new Prelate will take over from the current Prelate, Most Rev Nzi Nze Eke who is rounding off his tenure.
