2023 Elections : INEC Boss Meets Media Chiefs, Describes Them As Major Stakeholders

Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has described media practitioners as major shareholders in the Electoral processes in Nigeria.

Prof Mahmood Yakubu stated this during a meeting with media executives in Abuja.

The INEC Boss urged the media to fast track information to avoid fake news in the electoral system in the country.

He reassured Nigerians on the use of Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) for voter accreditation and transmission of results to INEC result reviewing portal ( IREV ) in real time on election day.

Responding, National President, Nigeria Union of Journalists, National Treasurer, NUJ, Mr. Tunde Bamidele, who represented the National President, said that the introduction of technology in the Electoral processes is  evidence that the Commission is committed to conducting of free, fair and credible elections in the country.

Independent National Electoral Commission will by next week display voters register in ten thousand locations across the country for process of cleaning up the register before the 2023 General election.
