Enugu State Primary Health Care Development Agency Appreciates Partners And Sponsors In 2022

The Enugu State Primary Health Care Development Agency, ESPHCDA, has expressed gratitude to its Partners And Sponsors that contributed to it’s success in the passing year, 2022.

In a statement released in Enugu, the Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr George Ugwu applauded the governor of Enugu state Dr Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi whose administration gave the Agency the palatable platform to operate.

According to him, the state government established modern Type 3 Primary Health Care Centers in the three Senatorial Zones of the state.
The centres are located in Nara in Nkanu East, Umumba Ndiagu in Ezeagu, Orba in Udenu and Ibeagwa Aka in Igbo Eze South.
Others are at Nkporogwu/ Uvuru in Uzo-uwani, Ehamufu in IsI-Uzo, Ukehe in Igbo-Etiti and Adaani in Uzo Uwani.

Dr Ugwu said that during the year, the Agency  trained and deployed over eighty midwives to other Health Care Centers across all the local government areas in Enugu state.
According to him, Enugu State Primary Health Care Development Agency also
conducted Life Saving Skills Training programmes for Ad-hoc and serving Midwives under the Basic Health Care Provision Fund.

Furthermore, Ugwu thanked the governor for the release of more funds for the reconstruction of other Primary Health Care Centers in all the political wards in Enugu state.

Other successful activities of the Agency in 2022 include reduced child morbidity and mortality rates in the state with support from UNICEF, WHO and Ugo Touch Of Life U- TOF. Control of Vaccine preventable diseases through national immunization Plus days programmes, Introduction of ROTA Vaccine against infectious diarrhea disease in children, engagement of Community Health Influencers Promoters and Services (CHIPS) and successful World Breastfeeding Week.

He noted that all these and more earned Enugu State the second best in Primary Health Care Services in Nigeria.

Ugwu expressed happiness over the successful Flag off of the 2022 Integrated Non Polio Surplimental immunization activities in all the seventeen local government areas in the state which is in collaboration with other partners.

According to him, the Immunization campaigns against measles, yellow fever and Covid 19 were embraced by indigenes and residents in Enugu state.

He urged community leaders to supplement   efforts of the state government towards effective Health Service Delivery.

The Executive Secretary further solicited the same cooperation and support from the Stakeholders in the coming year.
