The Labour Party Gubernatorial Candidate in Ebonyi State Arc. Dr. Edward Nkwegu has condemned in strong terms the killing of the Senatorial Candidate of Labour Party, Oyibo Chukwu Esq. in Enugu State. He noted that the killing is of great concern to him and the Ebonyi Liberation Campaign Council under his leadership.

“He observed that Oyibo Chukwu Esq. was killed in the most gruesome manner. Arc. Nkwegu further noted that Oyibo Chukwu Esq has laid his life in order to clean up the mess in this country.

“This is very unfortunate and is very strongly condemned. No election in Nigeria is worth the blood of any Nigerian.

“Arc. Nkwegu therefore advised politicians to play politics without bitterness and called on Security Agencies to specifically fish out the killers of Oyibo Chukwu Esq. He emphasized that it will not be enough for Security Agencies to dance around this ugly situation and carry out no concrete investigations only for them to issue ridiculous, vexatious, evasive and bulk passing statements.

“He opined that if democracy must survive in Nigeria, government in power must deal with this and similar cases decisively and restore the faith of Nigerians in the democratic process. It is his strong believe that Oyibo Chukwu’s killing was politically motivated and that the wicked shall never go unpunished.

“We are aware that the antics of the enemies of democracy is to have the Presidential and National Assembly elections coming g up on 25/2/2023 postponed by virtue of Section 34(1) of the Electoral Act, 2022 having seen that Labour Party is the Party to beat in this election. Arc. Nkwegu has therefore called on Labour Party to painstakingly navigate this situation with patriotism and adopt the best option in the overall interest of the Nation.
“Oyibo Chukwu Esq. was a rare gem, a committed stakeholder in the Obidient Movement. We mourn his untimely demise.”
