Reps Member-Elect Initiates Steps To End Ebonyi/Benue Boundary Disputes

Chief Nwachukwu Eze, the newly-elected member representing Ebonyi/Ohaukwu federal constituency of Ebonyi has initiated steps to end the protracted Mgbo (Ebonyi) and Agila (Benue) communities boundary dispute.

The dispute between both communities in Ohaukwu and Ado Local Government Areas of Ebonyi and Benue respectively, has led to loss of several lives and properties.

Nwachukwu, elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC) said in an interview that he had initiated peace moves with his counterpart from Benue.

“When the National Assembly members-elect from the APC recently met with our national leadership in Abuja, I initiated talks with the member representing Ado/Ogbadibo/Okpoku federeal constituency of Benue, Chief Philip Agbese.

“We discussed ways of combating this cankerworm that has eaten deep into the fabrics of our existence as brothers and sisters.

“Coincidentally, I hail from Ngbo and Agbese from Agila and the affinity is further cemented with two of us being inlaws,”.

The former Ebonyi APC chairman remarked that his meeting with Agbese lasted for over two hours pointing out that critical decisions aimed at permanently resolving the dispute, taken.

“We consulted critical stakeholders from both areas on phone and would meet them physically subsequently.

“We would further consult relevant governmental agencies to achieve this aim,”.

The former Commissioner for Markets and Parks Development said that they
raised a communique to ensure immediate cesassion of hostilities in the disputed areas.

“We proposed that a road be constructed through Ngbo/Agila axis to attract both state governments attention for effective development,”

He noted that he would initiate strategic peaceful environment in communities of his constituency.

“I will propagate peace throughout the borders of communities in my constituency to ensure adequate security at all times.

“I assure my people that I will works towards securing their lives and properties while enhancing their economic wellbeing,” he said.
