Outgoing Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, on Saturday, sacked 17 Permanent Secretaries, who superintended various ministries in the state, until Friday.
The Permanent Secretaries’ sack came two days to the handover of power to the incoming administration which will be led by the All Progressives Congress’ Hon. Francis Nwifuru.
Umahi announced the sack during the Valedictory Session of the Executive Council, at the New Government House, Centenary City, Abakaliki, the state capital.
Governor Umahi, however, retained 15 Permanent Secretaries to work with the incoming administration, under Nwifuru’s watch .
The outgoing governor also retained the Head of Service, Mrs Rita-Mary Okoro; his Senior Special Assistant on Religious and Welfare Matters, Rev. Fr. Abraham Nwali; Commissioner for Works and Transport, Mr. Ogbonnaya Abara; and the Commissioner for Aviation Technology, Mrs. Obianuju Alo.
Umahi also re-appointed his Special Assistant on Airport Project, Frank Ngwu, Commissioner for Trade and Investment, and Mrs. Chioma Nweze as Consultant for the State Government for a period of three months.
