There are speculations that governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state and the Chairman of INEC, Prof Mahmoud Yakubu made the list of people and politicians banned by the United States of America from entering the country.
The United States of America Secretary of State Anthony Blinken yesterday revealed that some Nigerian politicians and those that played vital roles to truncate the successful conduct of Nigeria’s 2023 General Elections have been banned from entering the country. Although Blinken did not mention those affected by the Visa Ban, there are strong speculations that the key actors in the ill-fated election including some current serving ministers, MC Omuolu and the INEC Adamawa REC among others were affected.
Blinken explained that the ban was targeted at people and politicians who worked against the interest of the people, adding that America was desirous to strengthen democracy in the country, Going by the level of rigging, intimidation and lawlessness by politicians and some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission during the exercise, the number of Nigerians affected by the ban would be over 200.
Governor Wike openly and directly and indirectly aided and abetted election rigging in Rivers State in favour of the All Progressives Congress in the February 25th
Presidential election while the INEC Chairman masterminded an electoral heist by announcing Tinubu as the winner when collation of results nationwide was still ongoing. MC Oluomo ethnicised the election by openly introducing thuggery that prevented voters of other ethnic groups from voting in Lagos.
