Ebonyi NNPP Guber Candidate, Adol-Awam Defects To APC

By Roland Ike,  Abakaliki

Adol Awam Chris, former Ebonyi gubernatorial candidate of New Nigeria People’s Party, (NNPP) has joined the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Chris made the declaration while briefing newsmen in Abakaliki.

Chris,  who contested in the 2023 gubernatorial  elections stated that he defected with his running mate and other members of the party.

“Before my exit from the All Progressive Congress (APC) to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), I played a pivotal role in the formation of the ruling party in the State.

“I worked tirelessly to solidify the party into a formidable opposition force before the former Governor, David Umahi assumed office in 2015.

“Today, it is with a heavy heart that I announce the end of my journey with the NNPP. After careful consideration and introspection, I have resolved to return to the party that I consider my true political home, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He noted that there were several reasons behind his defection to the APC.

“Before the merger that brought together the then ACN, ANPP, CPC, and a faction of APGA to form the APC, I played a pivotal role in bringing the ACN into Ebonyi State in 2010. I had the privilege of being a gubernatorial candidate for the party in the 2011 general elections.

“Moreover, I sponsored all 24 House of Assembly candidates of the party in that same election and actively contributed to the merger process. My commitment to the ideals of the APC has always been unwavering.

“It is worth mentioning that my wife, Barr. Princess Ojiugo Awam, served as the deputy national organizing secretary of the ACN until the merger.

“Together, we have shared a deep-rooted belief in the transformative power of the APC and its ability to shape the future of our great state”.

He noted that after the merger, he invested resources and influence into building a formidable grassroots structure for the APC in Ebonyi State.
