As part of measures by the present administration to instill confidence in the fight against corruption, President Bola Tinubu has approved the immediate suspension from office of the Chairman of the foremost anti – graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdul-Rashid Bawa.
The suspension is to allow for proper investigation into his conduct while in office.
A statement by Willie Bassey Director, Information, in the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation explained that the move followed “weighty allegations of abuse of office levelled against him.”
Bawa has been directed to immediately handover the affairs of his office to the Director, Operations in the Commission Mr Chukkol, who will oversee the affairs of the Office of the Chairman of the Commission pending the conclusion of the investigation.
