The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has debunked a viral social media post claim that the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Olukayode Ariwoola and President Bola Tinubu had a telephone conversation regarding the possible outcome of the petition before the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.

A Twitter user identified as Jackson Ude had in a tweet alleged that the CJN had through a telephone conversation advised President Tinubu and the APC to get ready for a re-run of the 2023 presidential election.

Reacting to the claim on Tuesday night, the National Publicity Secretary of APC, Felix Morka acknowledged that the party is aware of the post and described it as a fabricated falsehood.

He said: “We have become aware of a decidedly mischievous and intentionally misleading tweet by one Mr Jackson Ude. He alleged that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was in a telephone conversation with the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, in which the CJN purportedly told the President and APC to prepare for a presidential election rerun”

He also said Tinubu and the APC won the February 25, 2023 Presidential election without a doubt, and do not need any help from the CJN.

The statement further read: “President Tinubu and our Party won the last Presidential election without a doubt, and do not have any need to engage in side conversations with the CJN regarding pending petitions before the PEPC.”

APC went on to argue that Nigerians are smart people and are aware that Ude’s mission was to create tension and doubts in their minds pending the outcome of the verdict of the election Tribunal.

“Falsehood and conjecture by the likes of Mr. Ude only aim to inflame political passions, create doubt and panic, and preemptively undermine the verdict of the Courts in this important matter.

“Nigerians are smarter and more discerning to be affected by this opposition brand of tasteless and crass mercenary expeditions,” Morka added
