Ebonyi Commissioner Sues For Peace And Unity

The Commissioner for Border Peace and Conflict Resolution in Ebonyi State, Dr Donatus Ilang has called on Ebonyi citizens to avoid acts capable of disrupting peaceful coexistence and unity in the state.

Ilang made the call in an interview with journalists in Abakaliki Thursday at the sidelines of a public lecture marking the ceremonial retirement of Commissioner of Police, Ebonyi State Command, Faleye E.S Olaleye.

He appreciated the Command for discharging its duties and responsibilities accordingly, commending its efforts in combating insecurity, and crime in Ebonyi state and its environs.

“I want to state it categorically clear that it is only peace and understanding among all the citizens that would promote unity”

“It is a virtue and ethical to pursue and promote peace, unity in other to sustain the inclusiveness of the state government. We can only achieve this by engaging in activities that breed unity instead of seeking acts that could lead to problems,” Ilang said.

The Commissioner further congratulated the Commissioner of Police for his resilience in combating crime throughout his service in Ebonyi state and thanked him for laying enduring foundation that has promoted peace in the entire state.

He promised that the government of Ebonyi state under the leadership Governor Francis Nwifuru is anchored on the solid foundation of divine peace and promised the readiness of the state government to partner security agencies to combat conflict and restore peace adding that it is the only way investment and business can thrive.

Ilang commended the Command for organizing the lecture which was anchored on “SECURITY CHALLENGES IN THE SOUTHEAST AND THE WAY FORWARD”.
