The Management of The Daily Sentinel Newspaper rolled out the drums Monday to celebrate renowned Broadcast journalist, Barth Ikiebe, as he clocked 60 and took a bow from the Public Service.
In a congratulatory message, the Editor in Chief of the Newspaper, Larry Oyims, described Ikiebe as a seasoned and committed journalist with a high sense of professionalism.
“We rejoice with you on your accomplishments in life and wish you more years of much higher heights of an unqualified success that will go beyond your wildest imagination .
“Please accept our warmest regards as you step into a new phase in the journey of your life.
“Thanks so much for your time and commitment in the process of building capacity of young journalists.
“God bless you and keep you in good health as you continue to render service for the good of humanity.”
Until his retirement, Ikiebe was at various times Defence Correspondent, Works and Housing Correspondent and State House Correspondent during the Obasanjo administration for the Voice of Nigeria, VON.
An alumnus of DW Radio Academy, Ikiebe also has certifications in Mass Communications and Digital Technology.
He is a devoted family man married to Engr Juliet Ikiebe(Nee Ero) and they have four children.
