FG CHARGES REFEREE ASSESSORS ON CAPACITY BUILDING

The Federal Government has called on Referee Assessors in the country to constantly update their capacities with a view to bringing a turn around in the performances of the Domestic League in Nigeria.

The Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh, gave the charge when he had a stop over where the referee assessors were holding their training.

Senator Enoh, who was led to the stop-over by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Ismaila Abubakar, during the inspection tour of facilities at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

He observed that all through the years, referees in Nigeria have been heavily criticized over their performances in our leagues.

“I want to, however, trust that we will build on the recent successes achieved and win the confidence of our people” he added.

Senator Enoh noted that referees are critical stakeholders of the game of football, and thus need constant training and retraining in order to enhance their capacity for the development of Sports in the country.

The Ministry’s Spokesman, Mohammed Manga, in a statement, says the Minister at the stop over, was received by the Chairperson of the Referees Committee, Faith Irabor.
