The judgment by the Presidential Petition Election Tribunal Wednesday affirming the victory of Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the February 25 Presidential Election was received without enthusiasm by a cross section of Enugu residents.

Even as the judgment stretched from minutes to hours, many people went about their businesses ignoring their television sets.

Some of the people told our Correspondent that they had already known what the outcome would be and would therefore not waste their precious time watching the live transmission.

A trader, Joseph Okoye, retorted when asked why he was not watching the telecast:
“Why should I do that? It will be a waste of time. They have already determined the outcome of the case long before today and they have been deceiving us in the name of tribunal. I have better things to do.”

A housewife, Mrs Ngozika Asogwa wondered why the Court decided to show the judgment live when it denied Nigerians the opportunity of watching the proceedings as they were going on.

” These are the same people that refused to allow us follow the arguments in court. Why have they decided to show the judgment live?

” I didn’t bother to watch the television because I was not expecting them to overturn that victory. It has been clear all along that the powers that be had been bought over. I am not that naive.

Reacting to the judgment, a resident in Emene Cy Ani said a new constitution and electoral law had been introduced to Nigerians.

“From today, it is no longer an offence to be a drug peddler, it is no longer an offence to tell lies. Welcome to a new Nigeria”.
