The Enugu State Government has expressed interest in collaborating with the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) on the training of youths in the state on skills for personal development and economic empowerment.

The Commissioner for Human Development and Poverty Eradication, Dr. Malachy Agbo made this known on Friday during a courtesy visit to the Deputy Director of ITF, Mrs. Uzoamaka Yahaya, at the Enugu Zonal Office.

Agbo said the state government was desirous of partnering with the ITF on programmes that would enhance entrepreneurship among the young people in the state.

He explained that this would enable the state to integrate the relevant programmes into the mainstream of its human capital development activities aimed at building capacities among its unemployed population and improving the skills of the underprivileged.

Responding, the ITF Deputy Director, Mrs Yahaya appreciated the visit, saying she was delighted by the desire of the state government to partner with them in the area of capacity building.

She said the office was willing and ready to train youths on skills that would help them to be self-reliant while imploring youths in general to place more value on free skills training.

Yahaya commended Governor Peter Mbah for his commitment to the eradication of poverty, especially through skill acquisition in the state.
