The People’s Democratic Party(PDP) in Ebonyi State has accused Sen. Obinna Ogba of political prostitution and acting as a willing tool for the destruction of the political profession in Nigeria.
In a Press Statement issued on Sunday in Abakaliki, the Chairman of PDP in Ebonyi State, Dr. Augustine Nwazunku accused Sen. Ogba of engaging in “politics of crass opportunism founded on the proverbial stomach infrastructure”.
It would be recalled that Sen. Ogba who represented Ebonyi Central Senatorial District in the upper legislative chamber in the 8th and 9th Senate and some of his supporters recenrly issued a press release announcing their decision to resign from the PDP.
But the PDP Chairman accused Ogba and his group of embarking on “orchestrated campaigns of calumny even after they had betrayed the party during the last general elections”
The statement read: “The attention of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) Ebonyi State has been drawn to the latest ignoble campaign of calumny mounted by a few political renegades who betrayed the party during the last 2023 general elections.
The statement further alleged that Ogba’s decision to leave the PDP was because of his loss in the 2022 PDP Governorship primaries in the state and maintained that “for Nigeria’s democratic politics to grow and develop, the dangerous tendencies represented by the likes of Ogba and their social prostitute types must be exposed and decimated”.
The statement further asserted that “Ogba was an unknown political quantity before the PDP catapulted him to various eminent positions in the state and at the national level which culminated in his going to the Senate for two terms from 2015 to 2023”.
“If he thinks he can destroy the party which made him what he is today, we wish him good luck”.
“His decision to leave PDP for APC is *because* of his failure to win the PDP GUBER primaries”, an act which is “a concrete manifestation of wilful political anarchism, syndicalism, individualism and personality cultism”.
The PDP Chairman noted that the party “had decided to forge ahead without the distractions of these planted fifth columnists but they are making the process of leaving the PDP for APC become an endless programme of stage-managed noise-making”.
The PDP Chair made it clear that they were tired of the shameless antics of Sen Ogba and his fellow travellers and described their planned exit as the “good riddance of worthless refuse to the final final waste disposal site”.
