Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Dr. Solomon Arase,  has been honoured by the Alumni of the University of Ibadan with an award of excellence, an honour for distinguished Alumni of the University.

A statement by Ikechukwu Ani
Head, Press and Public Relations in the Commission  indicated that the award was presented to Arase Monday  in his office by the President of the University’s Alumni, Prof. Gabriel Nyityo who was accompanied on the visit by Prof Elsie Adewoye and Mr. Hyacinth Kyaagba, Past Presidents of the Association.

According to Ani, the delegation decided to present the award to the PSC Chairman in his office because other pressing official engagements could not allow him attend the awards ceremony held last week in Lagos.

Receiving the award, Arase said he was humbled by the recognition noting that the award is very dear to him. He stated that training in Strategic Studies gave him the fertile mind and critical skills that prepared and defined his career path.

The PSC Chairman expressed concern over the irregular academic systems being run by some universities in the country.

He called for the intervention of appropriate authorities to reposition University Education in Nigeria so that the nation’s Universities would  have a stable academic calendar and for parents to be able to predict when their children/wards can enter and exit the University.

Earlier, the President of the Alumni, Prof Nyityo said the award on Dr. Arase was in perpetual appreciation for “positively projecting the image of our University”.

The PSC Chairman later presented a book “Readings on Election Security Management ” edited by him to the delegation.
