Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has said that the resilience and determination of corps members are critical and highly needed in the efforts towards nation building.

Fubara said this on Tuesday in a message to the closing ceremony of 2023 Batch C Stream 1 orientation course for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed to the state at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Nonwa-Gbam Tai, Rivers state.

Represented  by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Office,  Hamilton Amadi,  Fubara urged the corps members to be disciplined and patriotic as elite youths.

The governor encouraged them to integrate adequately with people in their host communities by learning their languages and be respectful to their culture and tradition.

The State Coordinator of the NYSC in Rivers,  George Mfongang appealed to the corps members to entrench peace, equity and love amongst Nigerians wherever they are.

Mfongng advised them to live above board and be role models in their places of primary assignments.

“We thank Gov. Fubara and the good people of Nonwa-Gbam Tai for their love and support to the scheme.

“We further thank the state government for their commitment in ensuring the welfare and security of corps members serving in the state,”.

Corps members interviewed by our correspondent said they learnt a lot during the orientation course and pledged to contribute their quota to the development of Rivers.
