NSCDC ZONE K COMMANDANT ORDERS ANAMBRA AND ENUGU TO BEEF UP SECURITY FOR YULETIDE

The Assistant Commandant – General, ACG, in charge of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Zone K, Awka , Solomon Iyamu, has ordered the State Commandants of Anambra and Enugu to ensure adequate security of lives and property, before, during and after the Christmas and New year celebrations in their respective States.

The ACG gave the directive in Awka after reviewing security plans in both states ahead of the Yuletide to ensure an effective and efficient security coverage.

He urged them to identify all strategic and vulnerable points in their respective Commands and ensure massive deployment of personnel to the area.

ACG Iyamu said security plans for the season focus on intelligence- driven patrols, strategic deployment of personnel to places of worship, malls, public markets, major thorough fares, transportation hubs, Critical National Assets & Infrastructure, and other places of conveyance, aggressive law enforcement operations against suspected criminals , anti- criminality campaigns and public safety services in relation to the celebration of Yuletide.

He warned officers and men set to be deployed for critical assignments to be professional and mindful of fundamental human rights , avoid any act capable of tarnishing the image of the Corps and discharge their duties with all sense of alertness and decorum.

While wishing Christian faithful a happy celebration, the ACG reiterated his strong commitment to exerting relentless efforts in providing maximum security to members of the public during the Yuletide and beyond and advised law abiding citizens to go about their lawful businesses without any fear of attack or molestation.

ACG Iyamu enjoined residents of both States to be vigilant, security- conscious and promptly report any suspicious activities within their domain to the NSCDC or nearest security formation for a hitch – free celebrations.

Meanwhile, the State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Anambra State Command, Mr. Edwin Osuala in compliance to the Zonal Commands order and his avowal to effectively enhance security across the state has directed the deployment of two thousand and forty six officers and men drawn from various department and unit to safeguard public spaces, maintain peace and order and attend to emergencies before, during and after the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

This deployment is in line with the resolve of the command to create an enabling environment for end  end of year festivities, ensure protection of lives, and all Critical National Assets & Infrastructure in and around the State.

According to DSC Edwin Okadigbo the Commands PRO, Officers detailed for this critical assignment are under strict instruction of the State Commandant to be civil but firm in the discharge of their functions , work closely with other security agencies, local communities and relevant stakeholders to repudiate plans by hoodlums who may want to take undue advantage of the season to perpetrate crime.

Meanwhile, Area Commanders and Divisional Officers have been directed to deploy and put their men on their toes in all public places, worship centres, public assets such as power, transportation networks, communication facilities, and recreation centres to avoid any untoward incident. Not left out of the order are operatives from Anti vandalism squad, Rapid Response Squad, Special Female Squad, Disaster Management Unit, Counter Terrorism Unit, Agro Rangers Squad, Medical Unit, Intelligence and Investigation Department, and Critical National Assets & Infrastructure Protection Squad.

Consequently, Osuala enjoined members of the public and Christian faithful to be law abiding before, during and after the Yuletide, continue to support the NSCDC and other security agencies with credible information or call the command’s emergency number; 0806 676 9442 for prompt response.
