As Nigerians prepare to mark this year’s Christmas, the Enugu State Government has prepared grounds to spice up the celebration in the state

The Administration has unveiled a Unity Christmas Park in the Coal City for relaxation and entertainment of fun seekers.

Performing the ceremony on behalf of Governor Peter Mbah, the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Aka Eze Aka, reatated administration’s commitment to making the state a premier destination for business, investment, tourism, and living.

Aka said it was also in line with this mindset that the Mba administration had invested so much in the security of lives and property.

“Enugu is ready for investment and the Governor is leaving no stone unturned to bring this to fruition.”

He said the state recognised the Christmas season as time for fun, relaxation, and spiritual immersion, and commended the Enugu State Tourism Board for creating a convivial environment for Enugu people, residents, and visitors to unwind and enjoy themselves during the Yuletide.

In her remarks, the Executive Chairman of the Enugu State Tourism Board, Dame Rita Mbah, said the Christmas Unity Park, situated opposite the Michael Okpara Square, Enugu, was inspired by the tourism drive of the present administration, in which the industry is expected to contribute significantly to the quest to grow the state’s GDP from $4.4 billion to $30 billion.

She said that steps had been taken to ensure both ambience and safety at the park.

“We put the Christmas Unity Park together for Ndi Enugu to have fun, and we hope you all will enjoy it. It is open every day of the week, Monday to Sunday, from 9am to 11pm.

“This park is both secure and very safe. It has been well fumigated. We did a series of fumigations. We also made sure that all the electrical installations were all tucked – in by laying pipes and covering all the pipes where necessary. So, if you look around, you won’t see any of the pipes used in these aesthetical lights.

“We were equally intentional in creating the themes in different corners of the park to carter for the Christmas and holiday pleasures of every age category of fun seekers – children, youths, and the elderly.

“We also have the Santa Claus or Father Christmas resident in the bowl of the gigantic lion sculpture to ensure that children really enjoy themselves.

“So, we invite Ndi Enugu and even people from neighbouring states to come and have fun,” she stated.

The event was graced by dignitaries and key players in the Enugu State tourism and hospitality industry.
