The Anambra State House of Assembly has expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done so far in some roads being Constructed within Aguata Council area.
The roads are the ongoing rehabilitation work on failed portions of Uga-Umuchu- Umunze road and Uga-Nkpologwu with spur to Amesi road.
The Chairman House Committee on Works and Infrastructure Engr. Emmanuel Nwafor told journalists shortly after they visited the roads that the contractors were working according to government specifications.
According to him, the drainage channel being constructed by Apogee Engineering Limited handling the construction of Uga-Nkpologwu road is very solid and no doubt will stand the test of time.
He however noted that the rehabilitation work on Umunze-Uga- Umuchu axis needed stone base in some areas so that erosion will not wash away the road and also to guarantee that the road will stand the test of time.
In an interview the member representing Aguata Constituency 1, Mr Anayo Okpalaeke described the two roads as strategic to the people who are agrarian in nature.
Hon. Okpalaeke who also expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done so far, commended governor Chukwuma Soludo for awarding the contracts which is aimed at opening up the area for development.
The Project Manager, Apogee Engineering Limited, Mr. Micheal Uwaezuoke said the 3.5 kilometer road will be delivered by March or April 2024.
According to him, so 35 percent of the project have been done including cut and filling , earth works, drainage Channels, among other strategies.
Other members of the committee on works including Mr. Tony Muobike representing Aguata Constituency 2, his Ihiala Constituency 2 counterpart, Mr Golden Iloh and the member representing Anambra West Constituency, Mr Patrick Udeoba expressed the hope that when completed, the roads will aid human and vehicular movement as well as help to curb insecurity in the area.
