The member representing Abakaliki North constituency in Ebonyi state house of assembly, Victor Nwoke has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to speed up action in combating kidnapping, youths restiveness and other security breaches bedeviling the country.

Speaking with newsmen in Abakaliki, Nwoke attributed the rising insecurity in the country unemployment and joblessness.

The lawmaker, who is the chairman House Committee on youths development and sports, expressed dismay over the rising insecurity in Abuja, adding that the Nation’s capital, is becoming inhabitable.

“I have organized enlightenment programmes for the youths of my constituents to educate them on how to harness both local and international scholarships. This scholarship intervention programmes are targeted at making the youths not to depend wholly on their parents, and to shun crimes.

“Ebonyi state government led by Francis Nwifuru in it’s 2024 budget on education, has made a huge sum to make sure that the welfare of the teachers and students (youths) are taken care of.

“These programmes will enable our youths to overcome the challenges facing Nigerians, especially the issue of kidnapping, and restiveness. A good number of the youths don’t get job after graduation, but if they are trained in good way, they will be able to travel abroad legitimately and become whatever God has designed for them.

“They will not engage in crimes if they are properly trained and will not end up in prison as many of them do. I also urge the federal government as well as the state governors to give scholarships to pupils from primary to secondary schools. If the youths can be taught skills in various schools, it will help to combat all these crimes you are hearing about in Nigeria.

“Abuja the capital of Nigeria, is no longer habitable. All these crimes are as a result of joblessness by the youths. I plead with the federal government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure the welfare of the citizens. When this is done, you will see a crime free society.

In a related development, the lawmaker stated the preparedness of the state house of assembly to partner the governor, Francis Nwifuru to ensure that there is massive development and raid the state of all kind of crime.

“We are going to give the governor all necessary support to ensure that the state moves forward. And any bill that is going to help the state, we ensure that such bill receives an accelerated attention.

He urged the governor, Francis Nwifuru to improve on the speedy construction of urban roads, especially at Nkaliki located close to the state assembly: “The state government should be faster in road construction, because if you look around, you see that this Nkaliki and Igweokpu roads are part of the capital city. The roads are deplorable and I urge the governor to look into it”, he stated.
