Police Hail OUK For Donating  Security Vehicles To  Abia Command

The Nigerian Police Force has commended Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for donating security vehicles to its Area Commands and vigilante groups in Bende Local Government Area (LGA) of Abia.

The commendation was contained in a statement signed by the senator’s media office and made available to newsmen Tuesday.

The statement indicated that the four vehicles were procured for the Ohafia, Isiukwuato and Igbere Area Commands.

“Kalu admonished his constituents and Nigerians in general to shun violence and other criminal activities.

“The Senate Committee Chairman on Privatisation said the vehicles were funded personally and urged the benefiting commands to utilise them in securing people’s lives and properties.

“Crimes must not be condoned as Nigerians should channel their energies towards developing their agricultural potentials for economic enhance.”

The senator according to the statement, bemoaned the vandalism of public utilities provided by government, urging Nigerians to be patriotic.

“The solar lights I installed in part of Abia North senatorial district have been vandalised but I am optimistic that the police and vigilante would presently perform optimally.

“I thank the Inspector General of Police for making the posting of officers more effective because this is the first time we are having senior officers who understand Abia well.

“I also commend President Bola Tinubu for the improved funding of security agencies and urge Nigerians to support him in confronting Nigeria’s numerous challenges.”

The State Commissioner of Police, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, according to the statement, thanked Kalu for the gesture and pledged that the vehicles would be judiciously utilised.

“Police personnel in the benefiting commands will not have any excuse to fail in securing lives and properties.

“I direct personnel in Ohafia, Isuikwuato and Umunneochi to synergise with local vigilante in intelligence gathering and operations,” he said.

The National Welfare Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) according to the statement, Chief Donatus Nwankpa hailed Kalu for the his efforts in fighting crime in the district and assured him of the party’s support.

“Kalu has changed the dynamics of legislative representation as I urge the police and vigilante to synergise adequately”.

Representatives of the area’s traditional institution, town unions among other stakeholders gave goodwill messages at the occasion.
