ANAMBRA DEPUTY SPEAKER, OKOYE, EMPOWERS 21 CONSTITUENTS TO MARK EASTER

The member representing Awka South Constituency 2 and Deputy Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Chukwuma Okoye has empowered 21 members of his constituents .

The empowerment which took place at his compound in Amawbia, saw the beneficiaries receiving cheques of various amounts as part of his efforts to also cushion the effects of the economic hardship being experienced by the people across the country.

According to the law maker, the exercise is the second phase of the empowerment programme geared towards looking after the poorest of the poor in the society and supporting their businesses.

Okoye explained that the gesture was designed to complement the efforts of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in delivering dividend of democracy to the people despite political affiliations and inclination.

He noted that a monitoring team would continue to keep a close watch on the beneficiaries to ensure judicious use of the cash awards which is meant to assist them in their various businesses.

The Lawmaker commended Governor Soludo for his efforts in repositioning the state including Awka South constituency 2 with developmental projects and assured the unalloyed support of the people towards ensuring that he succeed in all his bids.

In their various remarks, the Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA in Awka South Local Government Area, Chukwuma Lawrence and former Deputy Speaker of Anambra state House of Assembly, Harford Oseke noted that Okoye had justified the mandate given to him by his people through the empowerment of his constituents.

They therefore enjoined the people to be faithful to be committed to the ruling party to continue benefiting dividends of democracy.

Two beneficiaries, Ekene Odogwu and Chinyere Anagor whose children’s school fees were fully paid by the lawmaker described him as a blessing to their lives and promised to put the fund into good use as his quality leadership has brought quality and accessible health care to the area.

Other empowerment programme of the law maker include the presentation of over 15 tricycles, 25 hair dryers, 50 sewing machines, 15 chest freezers, 12 grinding machines, Sienna vehicles, cars and motorcycles to encourage his constituents to be self reliant and contribute towards the overall development of the State.
