The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) has authorized three of its Commissions – Athletes, Medical and Technical to visit the various sites where members of Team Nigeria are camping.

The teams are training toward the 13th African Games officially kicking off on March 8 in Accra, Cape Coast and Kumasi.

This is the first time the Games have been spread in more than one city since the start of the Games in 1965 in the Congo, Brazzaville.

A statement by NOC spokesman, Tony Nezieanya, indicates that the camping sites are spread across the country, in Abuja, Lagos, Ibadan and Gombe.

According to Nezieanya, the Commissions would take turns visiting the camps as part of taking note of the welfare conditions of the athletes, without disrupting the training and their living conditions.

He said to reduce logistics challenges, members of the Commission’s are to visit camping sites close to them.

Nezieanya quoted NOC President, Habu Gumel, as saying that arrangements to transport the athletes to the Games’ venue are still being worked out stating that they would move in batches.

Women in Sports and the NOC Women Commission have already visited the Lagos camping site at National Stadium, Lagos and made some donations jointly received by Camp Commander, Femi Ajao and Lagos Liaison Officer, Nkana Mbora.
