Tinubu Nominates New Chairman For Police Service Commission

President Bola Tinubu has nominated a retired Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Hashimu Salihu Argungu as new Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC).

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, confirmed this in a statement in Abuja.

Argungu will replace Solomon Arase, a former Inspector General, who was appointed to the post in January 2023.

President Tinubu also nominated Chief Onyemuche Nnamani as Secretary and DIG Taiwo Lakanu (Rtd) as Member.

The nominations are subject to confirmation by the Senate.

Other members of the Police Service Commission will be nominated in due course.

President Tinubu also appointed Mr. Mohammed Sheidu as Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) with immediate effect.

Argungu is at present serving as chairman of NPF Micro-finance Bank,

He will be 67 on 10 July. He served in the police from 1984 till 2016 when he retired.

He has Masters of Laws (LL.M), Barrister at Laws (B.L), Bachelor of Law (LL.B), Bachelor of Arts Education (B.A.Ed), Nigeria Certificate in Education (N.C.E) and Grade II Teachers’ Certificate.

Onyemuche Nnamani was a one time Secretary to Enugu State Government.
