Rivers Govt Will Continue To Support NYSC Scheme – Fubara

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has restated his administration’s unwavering support to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in its effort to positively mould the attitude of graduates who are leaders of tomorrow.

Fubara made the statement on Tuesday in a message to
the swearing – in of 2024 Batch B Stream 1 Corps Members deployed to the state which took place at NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Nonwa-Gbam, Tai Local Government Area.

Represented by Mr Hamilton Amadi, Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Bureau, Fubara assured the corps members of continued conscious efforts to tackle youth unemployment by the administration and make life more meaningful for them.

“I am pleased with the sustained improvements being made by the NYSC management in its Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme.

“This scheme is designed to empower corps members and make them self-sustainable.

“This sustained improvement makes me optimistic that the nation’s economic resurgence is very much on the horizon.” he said.

The Rivers State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mr. George Mfongang had earlier commended the corps members for their honest and patriotic sacrifices in nation building, in the last 51 years.

Mfongang urged them to see their mobilisation into the National Service as a rare privilege which should motivate them to work hard.

“The mobilisation should also motivate you to work towards the entrenchment of unity, socio-economic development, peace and prosperity of the nation,” he said.

The oath of allegiance was administered on the corps members by Justice Obufaa Ben-White on behalf of the State Chief Judge, Justice Chibuzor Amadi.

A total of 1,771 corps members were sworn in at the colorful event.
